Now the usual sermon on “Doubting Thomas” seizes on this last line and concludes that Thomas had a weak faith and that we should not be like that. I have a problem with that approach. You see, in my experience, the quest for empirical evidence is simply how some people’s brains work. They’re just wired that way.
